Being african-american, young, handsome and on top of all "smart" means suddenly that he represents something new and unusual which in turn can give lots of people hope, hope for a better world. Hope for changes with injustices and the current economical situation. I believe the US and the world as such needs this kind of leader ie a wonder kid like this man to make the changes happen. It will not be easy though...

this would have been a great painting without all the Matrixesque words, but all those words push this into the realm of great artwork, and a true period piece. The world will remember January 20th, 2009 forever, at least i hope

Jonathan: Thanks for your comment and contribution I think the anticipation of his performance is astronomically high and unfair to a certain degree.
He's facing 2 unfinished wars, a bleak domestic Economic status, a global powershift by Russia, China, India and also parts of Africa, and a highly shaky situation in the middle east.
But, like Patrick mentioned, he embodifies 'hope', and as long as there is hope there is a powerful believe in people to hold on to, to make it to the next day so to speak; it's what makes us human.
Whether or not he WILL perform time can only tell, and oh he plays he a hell of a game of Basketball
