Hi all

This is my last dragon painting for the time being.
I now have made 12 pieces which rounds off the dragon
calendar that will be printed sometime this year...stay tuned

Admittingly, a dragon tree is not the most original idea (I've seen a couple of great ones passing by at gfx) , but it is a nice concept that allows freedom for different interpretations.

I had very much fun painting this piece, the organic flows and shapes allows you to paint freely without worrying too much about variances.

Painted all the way with Photoshop CS3 and Wacom Graphire 4 tablet.

Many many hours went into this.

Well I must admit I haven't seen any dragon trees here at GFX so I have to say this looks very original to me. the dragon is brilliant. The idea for the wings is ace. This will be a top calendar!

I just wanted to say one other thing about this one compared to your others. The dragon in this image fits into its environment so much better than some of your other dragons. Sometimes it seems like a dragon pasted onto a different style of work (the earth and fire, silver are good examples) , But on this one, you just went above and beyond to make everything match, the textures, the colors, and the environment. Only thing is the sky background still has a bit of that out of place feeling. It is a bit too photo-realistic looking and then just blurred. Still, just really like this one a lot.

Well done, Vincent. I've really enjoyed this series (and indeed, all of your fine images).
I really like the sense of lighting coming from the left (especially how the leaves are rendered). The roots at the bottom are so well done - very realistic. And, as mentioned already, the dragon really blends with the environment.

This is insane!! Your strongest piece to date, IMO. Very crisp and detailed, as always. One small critique; The background, although very well done, is slightly too dark. I think lightening it up a bit would help the dragon 'pop' a bit more.

Very nice work! The integration of the dragon into the environment is very well done and the detail is intricate without being overpowering. The only thing I would have done is to pick out the dragon's head with a stronger light source, almost a spot-light, to draw the eyes up the page and create a definite focus. Great job!

Perfect....in terms of both technical execution and creativity. I find that many dragon images look the same, but I have never seen one like this before. This is unique. Congratulations!
