Description
Yep another one!I have to make one more dragon image and than a calendar will be published with my dragon artworks which will be distributed on a wide scale yay
So expect at least one more dragon from me in the near future..
This one will be printed on tee's (on the left side and partly over the shoulder) and on the mentioned calendar.
Painted with PS CS3 and Wacom Graphire.
A rock texture is used and heavily repainted to give the necessary volume.
Painting time: too long
Fullsize is here (recommended):

I hope we still do get to see more of your infamous dragons in the future even after your tee + calender projects...
Love it !

Hmmm. As usual the details themselves are fantastic - I don't feel this one as much as the last one though man.
A couple of things that were getting to me were the level on both rendered and colour contrast where the dragon meets the rock - the rock is a little blurred whereas the dragon is perfectly crisp.
Also, i find that the dragons head gets a little lost in the rock and the wing - i mean i know the yellow of the eye draws you to that point, but not instantly, as the lighting around that wing and the face seems too similar - difficult to judge depth there
Anyway like i said, the details are fantastic - you are a master of them. Just thought you might like a bit of a critique

Evan: thanks for your input!
About the head being 'hidden', personally I like it that way as it integrates with the background
About the rocks being 'blurry', I just made scratches with a 3 pixel hardbrush like I always do, I dunno why it tends to be this way lol, but thanks for pointing it out.

good composition and colors.
I think the wings are too small.

Erse: I tend to agree, it wouldn't fit into the canvas unfortunately, they (my client) are very 'anal' about that
Tracy: yes I'm adjusting that as well...
To all: I'm trying to fix the issues as mentioned, I should be able to post the updated image by tommorrow
EDIT: changes are made

The rocks look a bit too smooth though.
Could use more contrast.

The details are a joy, as usual, and I really like the pose of this bad boy. Other parts which are specially delish: the red glow coming from the pores of the rock and his wings (beautifully translucent but also strong enough to stand up to, umm, dragon fights and other mischief
I would like to see a touch more thickness in the spines along the middle of his back (where it curves out to the right).
So, uh, where do you hire your dragon models?

Are the wings the right size?
If anything, compared to the dragon the rock almost feels like a weak point.
Great job!

I think you could try to add some third color there - but it's your choice after all.
