Description

Hi All,

sorry it's been a while...

I have here another Dragon artwork .
This is an idea I had for quite some time now and I'm glad I finally got the oppertunity to realize it.

Somehow I was thinking about this scene in bullet time, that could be cool:p

This will get printed on tee's

PLEASE view fullsize thanks!
Fullsize is here: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/60369047/

Painted with Wacom Graphire 4 tablet and PS
(painting time: 90-100 hours)

I used a stone texture on several parts

Thanks for stepping by!

Excellent work Vincent, very sharp as usual, great details! Some more contrast would be nice maybe, it looks a little bit flat in some areas. Otherwise, great job! I love the way he's awakening, great idea :)
+9/10

Edit : I now see what bothered me : the left wing could be lighter, it would give more depth (atmospheric perspective). I think that it flattens a little bit the image (I have had a hard time figuring out what bothered me... sorry for the late comment edit!)

Beautiful work Vincent. I agree with Diane on the contrast but only a minor point.

Thanks Meunier, Andy-dude!, Arisu, Gary, Zezhou, Carlos, Gary!

Really appreciated!

Diane: I see what you mean,
The idea was to make the head section popp out (and thus more contrast), due to the morning sunlight, the rest of the body is lit by secondary lightsources, but I will think off how to improve the contrast, thanks for your input!

Hi Vincent!
WoW wow wow! Excellent lightings. The sky is simply ... err... as good as a photograph (). This is also a nice idea (I agree with IraMelanox). My only little crit goes to the "slime" in the dragon's mouth which is too thick and maybe unnecessary. +9/9 anyway!

This is nothing short of incredible. The color choices are brillint, excellent harmony here. The design of the dragon itself is ace; Nicely defined (you draw extremely well), and very lively. Definitely one of my favorite pieces from you.

Well first off all I must say that this is amazing..just like all of your other artwork as well ;) I looked at this for a long time thinking what might be wrong...so if I may I would like to give some critics I'm not sure what were you aiming at with the light source but to me it looks like the sun is setting...anyways that means that the light is very powerful so the shadows should be stonger (in other words it might look more realistic with more contrast) at least in my opinion...and i'm not sure but considering the direction of the light shouldn't the right "arm" cast a shadow on the wing?...well that's enough about my thoughts...amazing job ;) Keep up the great work!

btw. Thanks for your comment ;)

 07/24/07 @904

Thanks Ztak for your feedback.
Well the contrast issue has been mentioned and I'm working on it as we speak to improve it.
Shadow on the wing is a good idea, havent thought about that so will add that too I think;)

Thanks!

While I agree with others about the contrast issue, I know that you're working on it, so that aside, I really like this (and all of your works). As usual, your attention to detail is remarkable. Great colours. Love the background as well. Kudos on another awesome painting. I look forward to seeing the higher-contrast version.

This is so close to a tattoo idea I keep trying to design. It's a gargoyle instead of a dragon bursting out of his stone casing with my Dad's and sister's initials underneath! So this kinda hit home for me! Great work bud! Would love to see some tiny specks of dust and debris to really sell this image but of course it's fantastic the way it is as well! ;)

Avatar Jane

 07/25/07 @407

It's a great piece of work! :)

I really like the leathery look the skin on its head has. If the skin on the wings had the same look, I think it would have been even better. It's just my opinion though.
