Description
The second design for my scheduled dragon trilogy. The Chinese dragon is a symbol of wisdom, power, and luck in Chinese culture. Unlike Western dragons, oriental dragons are usually seen as benevolent and kind. Dragons have long been a symbol in Chinese folklore and art. Temples and shrines have been built to honor them.
Chinese dragons have serpentine bodies, four legs, and are usually without wings. They are said to be a composite of various other animals-the body of a snake, the antlers of a deer, the soles of a tiger, the scales of a carp, and the eyes of a demon.
I tried to make an easily recognizable chinese dragon, with lots of colours.
To Glenn: I really paid attention to mix up the colours

Great lighting. I like the backlit effect. Personally I think the cast shadow from the rock of chinese character onto the the dragon, or from the dragon onto the rock, could be stronger, but right now it works fine as well.

I love the red, and the scales - wow.
08/29/06 @634
Very good use of colors and good composition.
The only thing I can notic is that the right horn (I don't know how to call it exactly...) it's too rotated to the left side and it's non in line with the head of the dragon.

I like the fiery red hair, though i would like to see the eyes more fierce, as wild as in the traditional paintings. but that's a personal preference.
you must be quite proficient now with painting scales
